         Summer CSA 2013!

How does summer taste? Like a ripe, sweet, sun-warmed tomato just off the vine? Like the nutty crunch of fresh-cut kale lightly steamed? Like a peppery pink radish?

The first harvests of fresh veggies are just around the corner.  So why not become a member of Piper's Knoll Farm CSA and receive an abundance of local in-season veggies from June through October?

This year we are offering two options for keeping your larder stocked with fresh organic produce  -- while supporting local agriculture!

(CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture:  a system in which consumers purchase their food directly from the farmers who produce it. When you become a shareholder in the winter/spring, you are providing financial support to our farm at the time of year when we most need funds. In turn, we provide you with an abundance of fresh in-season produce for the rest of the year.)

Traditional Box-A-Week CSA:   With this option, members pay upfront $500 for full-share and $300 for half-share, and receive 10% value more of produce over the season.  Shares must be paid in full by May 15.
For example, a summer box might include: 1 bag salad mix, 1 bunch kale, green beans, fresh Walla Walla sweet onion, tomatoes, garlic, 2 bunches of fresh herbs, 1 bunch of carrots, Queen Anne's Lace jelly... and lots of !

Piper's Knoll Farmshare CSAWith this popular option, members prepay in their choice of $50 increments (starting at $100) and can then shop cash-free at our farm stand or farmer's market choosing what they want when they want. This still helps us - your local organic farmer - with some early season operating costs - and gives you - the member - an option to buy a little in the spring, a little in the summer and a little in the fall - as you need and want.  Members receive a 10% credit upfront; for example a $200 farmshare costs $180. Happiness all around!

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!

 About Piper's Knoll Farm
Piper's Knoll Farm is a small Certified Organic farm in Newfield, Maine, that began growing commercially in 2011. Our mission is to provide healthy local food and medicinal herbs to the surrounding communities. We grow a large variety of produce over an extended season - from March through December - and hope to be growing year round in the near future! We currently have 1.5 acres open for production and will have another half-acre  ready for planting (or at least cover-cropping!) in 2013.

Piper's Knoll Farm is also home to Picket Mountain Stonework, Karl's rapidly growing enterprise.  It's success is a testament to his passion and dedication to creating beautiful and durable dry-stacked rock walls and equally beautiful patios and walkways.   His love of stone and his talent for letting the "soul of the stone" shine through is apparent in all his work.  Take a moment to browse the slideshow on the Picket Mountain Stonework page.
